Pianist Derek Chu joins us for the world premiere of Maggie Lu’s piano concerto, which aims to reconcile Eastern, Western, and Indigenous cultural interpretations of the jack pine. Kristin Flores and SR Day Rider convey the joy and sorrow of the land for all who live here. Puccini and Estacio remind us that the ugliness of chaos can preceed the beauty of creation.
